Enrollment Open

Guests venture through various jams and workshops that create original sample matter. That sample matter is then used in challenges where producers are given the same sounds, time, and parameters to sketch an idea. The ideas are then shared, community blossoms, and learning ignites. This is weaved between various wellness, meditation, and thinking exercises that encourage the guests to think differently and expand their perspective. Feedback circles and group exercises top it off for a well rounded blend of personal and social exploration in music making.

While many of the producers in the past have used Ableton, you are welcome to use any DAW. The personal challenges are done on your own computer, and the workshops will lean towards learning new workflows and pushing creative boundaries. Many have found benefit with just their MPC or even Garageband for iPad, yet you can typically expect that 90% of the guests will be using Ableton. It is a fruitful environment for those just starting out in using Ableton, as you can seek support from our floating mentors at any point while you are navigating a need for solutions in real time.

Everyone is given a set of guidelines and sounds to use. They then have a set amount of time to go in the headphones and sketch a song with it. Afterwards, everyone has a chance to display their idea and share how they used the samples & mindset. Many find value here by seeing new approaches, and training their mind to make creative decisions on the fly without attachment.

We are keeping enrollment open until Feb 1st. If beds haven't been filled by then, we will keep the applications open until they fill. All applicants will be placed on waiting list in case of last minute openings.
